Hello, everyone. :)
Kim from New Mexico! hi!
Hi, from CO!
I'm really exited about this program, I am an international student from Chile who graduated with a major in History.
9 * 16 = ~96 hours of study per semester for a 3-credit class~9.6 hours of study per week during summer for the same
You mentioned the open classes: Is the cost for those structured the same way as the regular session?
I’m interested in the open session courses. Are we able to apply financial aid to those courses? Or are they all out of pocket?
Have you worked with many teachers out of state? Wondering if I need to take the entire program or an endorsement type thing.
Is there an opportunity to pursue the MLIS degree alongside the MARA degree?
Sarah - Oakland, CA
Can a regular session student switch to special session student at any time? Can a regular session student start out as a special session student?
interested in the summer c;lass but not accepted yet,,can i apply towards degree after acccceptance?\
Is it possible to transfer any graduate credits/units from another graduate degree? (If we already have another masters)
Can you switch from MLIS to MARA if you find that you are interested in that route?
I know that Teacher Librarian candidates are required to do fieldwork. Are internships possible in that setting, given the time-demands of fieldwork?
Hi, I've reviewed a number of online MLIS programs. The vast majority are 36-39 units/credits. Will you please talk about why your program is 43 units? (more units)
I'm still a little confused about the difference between regular and special session - as a regular session student, does that mean there are some special session classes I wouldn't be able to take?
How long does it take to get accepted into the program after you apply?
so much great information, thank you! how long after submitting the application are you notified if you are accepted?
what are the advantages to applying for regular sessions?
What does it look like to complete a Masters in addition to getting a Teacher Librarian Credential? You can take electives in any area in order to attain the 43 units?
Some other schools have study abroad or "bootcamp" sessions. Does SJSU offer these sort of opportunities?
Do you offer a "double major" for MLIS and teacher librarian credential?
what specializations are there within the MLIS degree?
Tyler Charles LIvy
How much money can you make?
Does the estimated 10/hours a week per class include actual class time? Also, I know you talked about employment of recent grads. What are job prospects farther out?
Can financial aid (via FAFSA) apply to the special sessions program in general if we were admitted?
When it comes to applying for the MLIS program is there a need for letters of recommendations or a statement of purpose?
I applied but put the wrong session (regular vs. special). Can this be fixed?
Would the MARA be best if I am interested in purely archiving or is MLIS just as applicable?
Same question as Anne about financial aid for special session classes.
What is the deadline for signing up for fall semester classes for new students?
What is the application deadline for spring 2020 enrollment?
Is the $474/unit fee fixed once enrolled, or can it adjust annually? How much have fees adjusted historically?
Must a student take a course in each semester, or miss a fall semester for example.
once admitted, can students look to applying internships?
Can I apply to the Post-Masters Certificate if I already have a Masters in a different subject? Also, do I need to be working in the librarian field in order to apply?
Is the thesis option usually a semester long to complete? How many students go on to do the PH.D.?
How can I complete the school library field work if I am abroad for the Teacher Librarian program?
If you live within the San Jose catchment area, can you still apply as Special Session for the additional electives?
how can I add the advanced certificate in strategic management?
are letters of recommendation required to apply?
Once accepted do they send anything in the mail or is it all electronic?
If you were to move INTO the zip code for regular session, would we be automatically switched from special to regular session?
Is th Teacher Librarian credential also done online?
I am already enrolled in the MARA program but am considering transferring to the MLIS. I already have a Master's Degree in Museum Studies but need to know more about library cataloging and standards as well as Digital Assets Management. Can I start with the Post Graduate Certificate and later apply that to the MLIS degree? I work in a Research Library where library standards are very important.
Can you please state the expected study hours for 1 unit?
One more question, once I am accepted will I have access to advising resources?
Thank you. It was a really great session. A lot of good information.
Have a good evening from Southern California!
Thank you very much ! This was very helpful!
